Pope Francis urges countries to strive for peace as he leads just 200 masked faithful

The spiritual leader of 1.3billion Catholics across the globe celebrated  Christmas Eve mass in St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City. It was held at 7.30pm to meet Italy's curfew rules.
